Michael Noriega Clears the Senate Judiciary Committee

Yesterday, by a unanimous vote, the Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed Michael Noriega, Governor Murphy’s nominee for the Supreme Court seat that became vacant when Justice Albin reached mandatory retirement age. Senators from both parties, including Jon Bramnick (R-Union), at whose law firm Mr. Noriega currently works, and Nicholas Scutari (D-Union), were effusive in their praise.

The nomination is expected to come to a vote of the full Senate on June 30. If the Senate approves the nomination, as is anticipated, that would restore the Court to a full seven Justices for the first time in several years.
