Yesterday, President Obama resubmitted the nomination of Judge Shwartz for a seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, one of 33 judicial renominations (and one of seven Circuit Court renominations) that he announced. Senator Menendez, who originally held up her nomination, relenting only in January 2012, announced that he “welcome[s]” the nomination and that Judge Shwartz would be a “tremendous addition” to the Third Circuit. Senator Lautenberg likewise strongly endorsed Judge Shwartz, calling her “eminently qualified.”
As discussed here, Judge Shwartz has shown herself to be one of the best judges in New Jersey, of any stripe. She is more than deserving of a seat on the Third Circuit.
