In a Notice to the Bar that was published yesterday, the Appellate Division announced that electronic filing in that court, which has been phased in incrementally, is again being expanded. As of June 29, any attorney who has an existing Judiciary Account Charge System (“JACS”) account, and who is registered through the New Jersey online attorney registration system, can file civil or criminal appeals and all documents pertaining to those appeals, including motions. Attorneys who do not currently have JACS accounts can arrange to establish one through a link on the judiciary website. Attorneys using the electronic eDATA system for the first time will have to complete a first-time user registration form.
Slowly but surely, electronic filing has been advancing in the Appellate Division. Trees will be more and more thankful for that.
