President Biden has nominated Cindy Chung to fill a seat on the Third Circuit. If confirmed, she would be the first Asian-American to sit on that court.
A graduate of Yale University and the Columbia University School of Law, my own alma mater, Ms. Chung’s career has been as a prosecutor. After clerking for Judge Myron Thompson in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s office for six years. For the next five years, she was a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice. Ms. Chung then became an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Pennsylvania, where she was a leader of the Major Crimes Section and Violent Crimes Section. She was in that position from 2014 until 2021, when she became the United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
